Display Energy Certificates
New Government legislation maeans that by 01 October 2008*, all buildings over 1,000m2 occupied by Public Authorities or Institutions and providing a public service to a large number of people, need a Display Energy Certificate (DEC).
The Certificate, which can only be issued by qualified and accredited Energy Assessors, provides an Operational energy Rating for a building based upon its actual fuel usage.
The DEc must be on display by 01 October 2008.*
The Certificate is valid for 12 months, and is renewed and updated annually; it is accompanied by an Advisory Report, which will suggest ways in which energy consumption could be reduced.
